This fine quality and handsome late Regency figured mahogany kneehole side table features a central drawer with 2 drawers to each side. The side table has a concave shaped kneehole on reeded and carved supports with brass and ebony inlaid decoration. The table is attributed to William Trotter, who was one of Scotland’s finest and certainly one of Edinburgh’s greatest cabinet makers, and whose distinctive furniture is recognizable by its style and excellent quality. It measures 49 ¾ in – 126.3 cm wide, 23 in – 58.4 cm deep and 35 ½ in – 90.2 cm in height from the top of the gallery with a kneehole height of 24 ¾ in – 62.8 cm. This table, which could also be used as a small bedroom writing desk, would make a lovely feature or decorators piece in many different settings.
