This beautiful Victorian brass oil lamp is a superb example of the period. The lamp base and body display an intricate and very ornate design of scroll work and piercing. Each side is flanked by a centaur shaped handle, and along with the standard twist knob to raise and lower the wick, this lamp also has a separate twist latch mechanism to raise the top lighting section to adjust the wick and also a cone shaped knob that extinguishes the flame.
The lamp measures 20 in 51 cm high to the top rim where the glass globes sits and 32 in 81.3 cm in total height to the top of the glass insert, with a circumference of approximately 25 in 63.5 cm.
