19th C. Grand Size Carved Wood and Gesso Frame
share on Facebook

This monumental sized late 19th C frame is comprised of carved wood and cast gesso, with a bronzed gilt finish. It features an egg and dart border, cluster columns and acanthus leaf corners with scallop shells. The frame measures an impressive 89 in 226 cm wide by 80 in 203 cm high, with a depth of 9 in 24 cm and an inside opening of 71 in 180 cm wide by 60 in 153 cm high. There are several very small pieces missing, which can be restored if you wish, or left as it is in its natural state. These are very minor, and do not in any way detract from this beautiful and sizable antique frame. In addition to using it for a painting, it could also showcase a tapestry or a mirror.
