Goldschneider Sculpture of a Maiden with a Basket

This superb and well-proportioned sculpture, originally by Friedrich Goldschneider features a charming maiden in a gracefully moving pose carrying a basket. The piece measures 13 in 34.3 cm wide, 10 in 25.4 cm deep and 34 in - 88.3 cm in overall height. Friedrich Goldschneider came from the small Bohemian city of Pilsen to Vienna and founded the Goldschneider Manufactory and Majolica Factory in 1885. It became one of the most influential ceramic manufacturers of terracotta, faience and bronze objects in Austria with subsidiaries in Paris, Leipzig and Florence. For over half a century Goldschneider created masterpieces of historical revivalism, Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) and Art Deco.
